Vortex flows and streamline topology in curved biological membranes

چکیده

When considering flows in biological membranes, they are usually treated as flat, though more often than not, curved surfaces, even extremely curved, the case of endoplasmic reticulum. Here, we study topological effects curvature on membranes. Focusing a system many point vortical defects, able to cast viscous dynamics defects terms geometric Hamiltonian. In contrast planar situation, generate additional positive index. For simpler situation two vortices, analytically predict location these stagnation points. At low limit, resemble that vortices an ideal fluid, but considerable deviations occur at high curvatures. The formulation allows us construct spatio-temporal evolution streamline topology resulting from hydrodynamic interactions between vortices. streamlines reveal novel dynamical bifurcations leading spontaneous defect-pair creation and fusion. Further, find membrane mediates defect binding imparts global rotation many-vortex system, with individual still interacting locally.

Streamline Topology and dilute Particle Dynamics in a kÁrmÁn Vortex Street Flow

Three types of streamline topology in a Kármán vortex street flow are shown under the variation of spatial parameters. For the motion of dilute particles in the Kármán vortex street flow, there exist a route of bifurcation to a chaotic orbit and more attractors in a bifurcation diagram for the proportion of particle density to fluid density. Along with the increase of spatial parameters in the ...

Word representation of streamline topologies for structurally stable vortex flows in multiply connected domains

Let us consider incompressible and inviscid flows in two-dimensional domains with multiple obstacles. The instantaneous velocity field becomes aHamiltonian vector field defined from the stream function, and it is topologically characterized by the streamline pattern that corresponds to the contour plot of the stream function. The present paper provides us with a procedure to construct structura...

Isotope Flows and Flux Ratios in Biological Membranes

Precise evaluation of permeability of biological tissues is often prevented by imprecise knowledge of operative forces. This problem has been approached by analysis of fluxes of isotopic species applied to opposite surfaces of a membrane. A simple and rather general flux ratio equation has been derived which may permit evaluation of membrane permeability, even without knowledge of forces, or of...

Prediction of Extrusion Pressure in Vortex Extrusion Using a Streamline Approach

Vortex extrusion (VE) is a severe plastic deformation technique which is based on the synergies between high strain accumulation and high hydrostatic pressure. Such a high amount of pressure, places a mandate to seek the method for investigation of the load under processing conditions. For this, kinematically admissible velocity field and upper bound terms based on Bezier formulation are develo...

Vortex control in channel flows

The use of translation invariant cost functionals for the reduction of vortices in the context of shape optimization of fluid flow domain is investigated. Analytical expressions for the shape design sensitivity involving different cost functionals are derived. Channel flow problems with a bump and an obstacle as possible control boundaries are taken as test examples. Numerical results are provi...
